Take part in the CALM Air Quality Awareness Poster Competition
There is still time to take part in the Clean Air Living Matters: Exploring Reading Children’s Poster Competition
What’s it all about?
Clean Air Living Matters (CALM) has launched a poster competition to encourage children to create artwork that helps raise awareness of the prolonged danger to our health by breathing in outdoor and indoor air pollution and encourage us all to take action to fight against it. You can read the guidelines on the Reading Borough Council’s website here.
Who can enter?
Any Key Stage 2 child aged between 7 and 11 years old.
Competition timeline
The competition has been running since the 9th of September and all entries should be submitted before the deadline on Friday the 18th of October.
Judging will take place between 21st October and the 1st November. The winner will be announced w/c 4th November.
Guidelines
“What’s in our air…and how can we improve it?”
Inspired by the above question, children should create an original artwork, using media such as pencils, pens, crayons, paints etc. (no digitally created images will be accepted). The children are encouraged to think about both outdoor and indoor forms of air pollution and what causes them. Examples: Outdoor air pollution created by vehicles, in queuing traffic, with engines on and idling. Indoor air pollution created by smoke from a wood burning fire, using unauthorised fuels that are not labelled Ready to Burn (RTB).
You can read more here details on the guidance, conditions for entry and ofcourse a thank you gift for the artist of the chosen the poster!
