RSA Catalyst Seed Award Winners with ReDesigners Reading

We’re excited to announce that Design Nature CIC have been awarded a Catalyst Seed Award grant to develop and trial “ReDesigners Reading”. You can read about some of the other amazing organisations and project award winners on the RSA blog.

At it’s core, ReDesigners Reading is a creativity and co-design project, to support and empower young people to further participate in developing local climate action strategies and projects. It recognises that we have the power to reimagine, redesign our worlds, for better, for all, through collaboration, creativity and enabling wider participation, particularly young people.

We’ll be supporting in facilitating local young people in defining the issues they care about and hold a ‘redesign workshop’ to develop ideas and actions collaboratively. These will then feed into the Reading Climate Action Plan alongside some support funding to look at taking forward.

The first area that will be considered is fashion and textiles, however we aim to build a programme designed, with and from local young people’s priorities, that could look at topics from waste to water, air quality to ewaste.

“With this Catalyst Seed grant, we’re excited to be able to creatively explore developing different ways for young people’s views to be heard and to actively participate in designing potential solutions to the issues they care about in their local community, feeding into local climate strategy plans and action” – Erica Purvis, Project Co-lead

Connect & Collaborate

The first stage will be all about providing a means to  ‘crowdsource’ young people’s opinions and identify priorities and interests for the next stages. We’ll be conducting an open online survey, reaching out to local schools and other youth groups, alongside running an on-the-ground workshop to feed into this as part of the Reading Climate Youth Fair as part of the Reading Climate Festival and The Great Big Green Week 2022.

If you’d like to find out more, support or get involved, then please get in touch. We’ll be sharing more and updates very soon.
